Meet the Team

Created by two speech-language pathologists, Growing With AAC was created with the goal of providing neurodiversity-affirming and evidence-based materials, resources, and trainings.


  • Co-Creator & Speech-Language Pathologist

    Zoe Giatis is a speech-language pathologist based in San Jose, Ca. She is a full-time SLP and AAC Specialist at a public school district. In addition, Zoe is a part-time lecturer and supervises the AAC clinic for first-year graduate students. She is pursuing her EdD at San Jose State University, where her dissertation is focused on neurodiversity-affirming practices.


  • Co-Creator & Speech-Language Pathologist

    Nadia Townsend is a speech-language pathologist based in San Jose, CA. She is the designated AAC Specialist for a public school district, where she serves over 100 students from grades TK-8. In addition, Nadia is a part-time lecturer at San Jose State University, where she supervises pediatric clinics in the areas of speech sound disorders and AAC. She is currently pursuing her clinical doctorate (SLPD) at Rocky Mountain University, where her capstone research aims to develop a literacy program for non-speaking and minimally-speaking AAC users.
